The Conference Dinner of the ACRC 2019 will be hosted at the Zoma Museum, Addis Ababa and will provide an opportunity for delegates to relax and enjoy meeting outside the conference programme.
ZOMA Museum is a dream inspired 25 years ago by the timeless and structurally sound vernacular architecture of Ethiopia and other parts of the world. It is named after Zoma Shiferraw, a well-known Ethiopian artist who died of cancer in 1979.
Zoma Museum is an environmentally conscious art institution. Its mission is to act as a bridge between artists and architects from around the world to create cutting-edge ecological art and architecture. In this context, Zoma Museum is built using ancient yet still existing construction techniques. The building materials include mud, straw, stone, wood, and cement.
ACRC delegates will have the opportunity to enjoy the following activities as part of the conference dinner experience at Zoma Museum:
Short Guided Tour (on arrival)
Traditional Weaving Station
Learn about how traditional Ethiopian fabric is weaved
Experience making enjera (a traditional Ethiopian flatbread)
Learn how to play Gebeta, a traditional Ethiopian board game
The conference dinner costs ZAR450 per person (not included in the conference registration fee), which covers a three course dinner buffet with vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes as well as non-alcoholic drinks for the evening and return transport between the UNCC and Zoma Museum.
